TURKISH LANGUAGE

Dear All,

Welcome back to Term 2. I believe that everybody has had a good rest and that was our wish for all, for everyone to come back fresher and stronger for this term. Indeed, we can spend that positive energy well that we’ve stored either as a student, teacher or parents.

I would love to share some quotes about language learning and I trust that they will be inspirational for all of us about learning either our own language or any other language. By having different perspectives of different cultures, we have a better understanding and can establish more healthy relationships with people around us.

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.”
‒Nelson Mandela

“One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.”
‒Frank Smith

“To have another language is to possess a second soul.”
‒Charlemagne

“Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.”
‒Rita Mae Brown

During this term, students will learn more about their language. The main focus I going to be on reading and writing.

“Kahoot”, an online program for language studies, has been implemented to encourage motivation and competency whilst learning Turkish. By competing in a friendly environment with each other, I observed that the students are happier to work together and they enjoy these times so much.

We started story time last term and we are going to continue so as to get the students familiar with their vocabulary and extend their language. This can provide a healthier communication both at school and at home with their families and friends.
